A Message from the 2009-10 President, Margaret (Peg) Weir

November 11, 2009

Dear EWG Members,

We have gotten off to a great start this year! Kicking off the new year with the wonderful Officer Inauguration in July at the DACOR Bacon House and then two relevant and free events -- the Civility Café with Joan Wangler and Introducing Web 2.0 with Andrew Krzmarzick. We also participated in a wonderful event sponsored by our sister organization TIAW at the Embassy of Canada, where EWG past-Presidents Helen Holt, Marylouise Uhlig, and Virginia Robinson were recognized for their "World of Difference" awards.

Time to mark your calendars for the upcoming events!

Our Annual Holiday Tea and Fundraiser will be held at the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City on December 2nd.  You can celebrate the season and make a child happy by donating to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and/or support our veterans through the Wounded Warrior program.  Especially considering recent events, it is very important to take this opportunity to remember our veterans.  A festive afternoon of camaraderie and celebration is planned. And that's not all -- you might even be able to get a little holiday shopping done at the event.

On January 14th, we will celebrate EWG's 35th Anniversary with an evening aboard the Odyssey Dinner Cruise Ship.  With DC's skyline as a back drop, we will celebrate this momentous occasion with dinner, dancing and entertainment. Can you imagine a better way to commemorate our 35 years! You'll be receiving a special invitation soon and registration will be open shortly.

This year's Annual Summit and Training Conference "Writing Women Back into History" is set for  March 11th at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Please join us for an incredible day of learning, networking, and professional development.  Early registration is available now!

While we have many exciting events planned, let us not forget that EWG is your organization. Therefore, I ask you to share your thoughts and ideas on what types of programming or other activities you would most like to see by sending a message through the following link http://www.execwomeningov.org/contact-us.  As EWG President, I am committed to serving all our members and dedicated to mentoring those women who wish to advance in the Federal government. Our leadership will facilitate cultural change so that executive women are well represented in government. In the very near future,  you'll be receiving a survey to obtain your valuable feedback. Being a part of EWG continues to be very rewarding for me, I recommend that you maximize your membership by taking advantage of its many benefits and getting involved through the various committees. And recruit new members to this astounding network of executive women!

In conclusion, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to all the amazing members of EWG, true inspiration to me and to all the members of our Board.

My sincerest best wishes to everyone as we approach the holiday season.

Sincerely yours,

Margaret (Peg) Weir
EWG President
