If you are a woman who is a senior manager (SES, GS-15 or equivalent rank in the military, appointee requiring Senate confirmation, or elected) employed in the federal government - executive, legislative, judicial branches or in the military - you should join EWG for professional contacts, new friends, insights and information helpful to your professional growth and business. Through EWG, professional women are reaching beyond, learning anew, and finding the ideas and opportunities they need to grow and advance in the new millenium. Q. May I retain my membership upon retirement?A. Yes. You are able to retain membership after you retire. Q. How much does it cost to be a member? A.Membership is $65 per year. Q. Q. I'm looking for a job. Can EWG help me? A. Absolutely! As a member, you'll have the opportunity to network with hundreds of dynamic, successful women. Many of our members are interested in mentoring others, so they can "give back" the support and opportunities they have been given during their careers. You'll have access to our Career Resources compendium, and special offers for professional enhancement opportunities. We are also establishing a job bank, where you can learn immediately about career opportunities. Finally, participating as an EWG committee or board member can give you the experience you need to round out your resume while meeting others. Q. When does EWG meet? A. Programs are generally planned monthly and range from educational programs to socials. Most are held over lunch in a downtown D.C. location such as an agency or restaurant. We hold our Annual Summit and Training Conference in March in Washington, D.C. Members are notified of upcoming events via email, though you can also check the events page for the current schedule and details. EWG officers and committee chairpersons conduct business meetings throughout the year. These meetings are open to all members. Please contact the EWG office for more details. Q. Can I attend an event if I'm not a member? A. Yes! You may attend an event as the guest of a member. If you are eligible to join, this is a great way to meet us! Q. How can I help? A. EWG has an extensive volunteer network that plans, organizes, and communicates events and activities. You can help by volunteering to chair or participate on EWG committees which include archives, awards, communications, job bank, membership, member services, mentoring, newsletter, Public Employees Roundtable, Coalition for Effective Change, program, speakers bureau and status of women. Contact the appropriate Committee Chair or President to volunteer. Q. Who is eligible to join? A. Any woman currently employed by the federal government at the Senior Executive Service, GS-15 or equivalent military rank; political appointees requiring confirmation; and elected officials. You may continue your membership upon retirement from federal service. Also, if you retired or left the federal service at an eligible rank, you may join as an associate member. Yes, if are a member in good standing, you can request and receive our exclusive membership directory – a valuable networking service. Use the directory to locate other EWG members, meet new members, and develop valuable contacts in government agencies. You can use this directory to search for members by agency or by name. To read the directory, you will need Adobe Reader, a popular and standard software tool. If you don’t have Adobe Reader on your computer, you can download a copy free at Adobe. This format not only saves EWG money, it also allows us to keep the directory up-to-the-minute current so you get the best information. Plus, you can get a fresh copy anytime you want it!
