After January 20, there will be 9,000 political appointee positions to be filled when the newly elected President and Administration takes office. The career Senior Executive Service cadre will play a pivotal role in helping to ensure a smooth transition between the outgoing and incoming leadership. Join Executive Women in Government to learn what to expect and how to prepare. Hear the perspectives of a stellar and diverse panel to learn what works and what doesn’t. Network with your peers from all over the Federal Government and see how others are dealing with this once every four year phenomenon. The event, sponsored by Executive Women in Government and hosted by Executive Women at State Department, will take place over lunch in the historic and charming Van Buren dining room.

Guest Panelists:

Marguerite Coffey is the Director of the Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing and Innovation (M/PRI).

Jennifer Cervantes, Senior Advisor to Secretary of Agriculture, will provide an overview of how USDA is planning for a Presidential Transition.

The Honorable Nancy Harvey Steorts, Former Chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission under the Reagan Administration and also EWG Past President, will share her perspective on the role careerists played when she took office and how you can influence change when the new team comes onboard.

Claudia Tornblom, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Management and Budget), in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works), led the last transition team and the current effort at this agency which has policy oversight over both the Corps of Engineers water resources program and the program and budget of Arlington National Cemetery.
