Some 150 women and men gathered in the West Conference
Room at the U.S. Supreme Court to witness the swearing-in of EWG’s
new officers by Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on October
17, 2006. In her remarks,
Justice Ginsburg noted “As women achieve power, the barriers
will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what
women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and
we’ll all be better off for it.”

Nancy Nord receives congratulations from Justice
Ginsburg
Sworn-in during the ceremony were Nancy Nord, Acting
Chairman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, as president,
Katherine C. Gugulis, Deputy Chief for Strategic Planning and Accountability
for the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) as vice-president;
Paula Farrell, Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative
Review at the U.S. Department of the Treasury as secretary; and
Margaret Weir, Manager, Internal Control Group, US Postal Service
as treasurer.
