The TIAW Washington DC event Empowering Women Globally focused on empowering through environment and investment policies, education and training. The event was by invitation only, reflecting the seniority of the attendees.  TIAW Board member Maura Griffin, Regional Director Americas, and former Board member Margie Armen created and organized the event with the support and experience of TIAW Past-President, and current TIAW Executive Director, Maxine Westaway.  EWG President, Peg Weir, coordinated bringing several EWG members to participate in the program.

At the DC event, Marylouise Uhlig and Virginia Robinson were honored with World of Difference awards for 2009.  Helen Holt was also recognized for her 2008 award.
