Mentor-Protege Program

Executive Women in Government (EWG) is pleased to announce the first class of the Mentor-Protege Program as part of EWG's 4-part Mentoring Program EWG currently offers Flash Mentoring, SES Preparation Workshops, and a Transitions session.

EWG is now accepting applications for Class 1. The program offers a three-part series. Each session explores issues and opportunities facing government women executives today.  The series is designed for:

  • GS-15 and GS-14's (members and non members) preparing for SES positions,
  • SES women looking for a mentor or assistance with a particular issue, and
  • Executive women in government considering a career change or exploring other career/life changes, etc.

The Mentor-Protégé Program's mission is to encourage dynamic personal and career growth for executive women in government. The program provides a learning community of women that strengthens and fosters leadership skills, competencies and strategic networks.

The sessions will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm in Rosslyn with access to Metro and parking.  The dates of the sessions are:

  • Thursday, August 5, 2010 (Orientation and Mentoring)
  • Thursday, September 16, 2010  (Mentoring)
  • Thursday, October 28, 2010  (Mentoring)

The program is limited to 20 proteges.  Protégé candidates are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis, with EWG members given first preference.  EWG senior-level executive women are encouraged to sign up to be mentors.

For protégés, the 3-part program fee is $100.  This program is considered training and reimbursable for Federal employees.  There is no cost to be a mentor.

This Mexico Village Bank trip honors Elaine Litman who was an EWG member and a TIAW Board member.  After her untimely death, her family members and several EWG colleagues founded a village bank in her honor.  Several EWG and TIAW members are travelling to Mexico to visit Elaine's bank in February. This trip is a great opportunity to learn more about microcredit while traveling in good company and having a fabulous time!
